Emotional Intelligence and Spiritual Discernment

Discernment, or the ability to judge, to make “the best” decision, is a key reason we seek and nurture spiritual connection. In this context, Spiritual Connection is defined as being in relationship with, sensing the greater than. We ask for the freedom, insight and/or wisdom to gain clarity for our next best step, to move through a difficult time, to see/feel the choices before us, to make the “best decision”. Emotional Intelligence is fundamental to discernment and the process of discernment deepens and expands emotional intelligence. Together in this session we will explore:

• a discernment process/methodology based on Ignatian Spirituality
• how discernment requires and deepens emotional intelligence, and
• ways a spiritual director/prayer companion senses emotional intelligence to support the discernment process

Anne Papinchak, PCC M.ED. completed her Emotional Intelligence training and certification with Crescendo Inc. several years ago. She continues to stay connected, and applies the knowledge and the assessment tool to support her clients as an ICF credentialed Executive Coach and a qualified Spiritual Director (2016 the Pneuma Institute).

Anne has worked as an internal corporate performance improvement consultant for years, building internal capacity for team and business growth. She served as an examiner and trainer for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

In 2011, Anne left corporate as an executive leader and started her own consulting and coaching business where she serves as a business coach and a spiritual leader in many different venues, with individuals and groups.
